Welcome

Welcome to my blog. I update this as often as I can with news that you might not see on the major networks as my main focus. I welcome any and all comments, and I have content at the bottom of the page everyday. Personal blurb: My personal belief is that the US Constitution's first amendment (which talks about the freedom of speech) extends to the Internet. For this reason, I have the comments setting set up to have comments go up immediately. If you comment anonymously, you will have to go through a word verification step. I will keep the setting as-is as long as the comments are kept 'G' rated. Thanks and I hope you keep coming back.

Re: Re: Re: Shutdown Showdown

As the months have turned into weeks, the weeks turning into days, and Obama saying that he will not accept another postponement, Congress should have been scurring around to get a budget for this year in place.  But where are they in this situation?
As this week has progressed, Democrats have come up with a budget, but the GOP has shot it down because the Republicans say, "that the budget proposal spends too much money.  The Republicans have come up with a budget, but the Democrats have shot it down because they say, "the budget proposal keeps 'essential' programs underfunded".  Who can we believe?  Is there anyone looking out for Main Street?

The short answer is that no one is looking out for Main Street.  You might be say, "My congress person, (insert name here), has been doing everything possible to look out for Main Street.  He/She has crossed party lines time and again to make sure that everything is fair."  I get it.  I have some of those congresspersons in my head as well, but the point is, we are four months into the year and congress has yet to come up with a budget.  As I am writing this, we are now 60 minutes away from a Federal Government shutdown (/insert:  dun, dun, dunnnnn.../) and still Congress has yet to come up with a budget.  I have had several posts now about different aspects of the government shutdown published this week.  Still the news is the same, at midnight tonight, EDT, the Federal Government, Federal Websites, Federal Buildings, National Parks, National Forest, IRS buildings, etc. will go black and will be shut down until congress can come up with a budget.

{If you haven't noticed, I have stopped capitalizing the 'c' in congress.  I feel that congress has lost its privilage of being considered a 'proper' noun.  I have no respect with this congress, nor any other congresses in the past decade.  (These are the only congresses that I have personal experience with and the only ones that I can remember.)  I have not been lazy, I just don't consider congress 'proper' anymore.}

Through the past four months, the US economy has grown steadily, but a government shutdown could pull the economy down into a double-dip recession, not to mention as gas prices are expected to hit $5/gallon is some states by early summer.
On this post, as with all others, I would love to see your comments and thoughts about this.  I will continue to update this through tomorrow.  I will then start fresh with a new post.
